DRC 40 entering the maintenance shed for a major overhaul.
With the completion of the rebuilds to the 4 Workmens Sleepers, 600hp Diesel Rail Car DCR40, built by Tulloch in New South Wales for the Victorian Railways in 1970, has been shopped for major works.
These will include.
Replacement of 6 double glassed windows damage by vandals prior to overcover storage becoming available in 2011.
Repair to seats including metalwork, padding and upholstery.
Upgrades to engine monitoring systems and new air starter.
Inspection of air conditioning unit.
Fitting of correct marker light housings to the No2 end.
Painting of the roof and polishing of external body.
It is planned to have the work completed sometime in the second quarter of 2026.
