DRC 40 entering the maintenance shed for a major overhaul.

With the completion of the rebuilds to the 4 Workmens Sleepers, 600hp Diesel Rail Car DCR40, built by Tulloch in New South Wales for the Victorian Railways in 1970, has been shopped for major works.

These will include.

  • Replacement of 6 double glassed windows damage by vandals prior to overcover storage becoming available in 2011.

  • Repair to seats including metalwork, padding and upholstery.

  • Upgrades to engine monitoring systems and new air starter.

  • Inspection of air conditioning unit.

  • Fitting of correct marker light housings to the No2 end.

  • Painting of the roof and polishing of external body.

It is planned to have the work completed sometime in the second quarter of 2026.
