ADMINISTRATION
Although not what ones immediately thinks of when it comes to a heritage railway, without our Administration Team, we simply wouldn’t operate trains or actually exist!
Much of their time is taken up with the ongoing compliance with the various laws and acts that govern our operations, primarily the National Rail Safety Law and Occupational Health and Safety act.
Part of that is correspondence with the Office of National Rail Safety Regular (ONRSR), including monthly and yearly reporting.
Then there is our participation in the Community Museums Accreditation Program (CMAP). This requires us to have and maintain many policies and procedures to ensure we continue to meet the requirement to remain as an accredited museum by Museums Australia.
Many of the day to day operations of the Company are done by the members of the Board, once again all volunteers that are elected each year by the members at the Annual General Meeting . These range from insurances to finance, dealing with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC), VicTrack and the local council.
Most of the administrative roles don’t require you to attend the railway, as long as you have a computer and internet connection, all these can be done from home whenever you have time, no travelling required.
